Active Adults - Community Program of the Year

Last week we were awarded the National Community Program of the Year award at the National Belgravia 2019 Awards. Through the Active Adults program at Ascot Vale Leisure Centre we have connected 442 older adults to physical activity. 

The program has seen our 442 participants regularly engaging in physical activity and a number of other incredible benefits for our members and the community. The program and our participants have also helped create a welcoming and supportive environment where social inclusion and friendships are made. And, we have worked together to address isolation among elderly in our community.

In addition, there have been many amazing physical and mental wellbeing benefits from participation in both wet and dry activities and in our monthly offsite social functions that see on average, approximately 50 attendees at these events.

We also share our fabulous monthly newsletter that communicates information, health tips and adds to the sense of community here at AVLC.
