Pool Hygiene
We need to talk about pool hygiene - it's a very important topic for parents with small children, and leisure centres such as ours.
It is crucial for parents to ensure that their children are having regular toilet breaks every 30-60mins. For children that aren't toilet trained, we highly recommend that parents are using well-fitted swimming nappies, and they are then regularly checking and changing those nappies away from the pool.

Don't have a swimming nappy? We stock swimming nappies on site. Speak to our team on your next visit. Prices range from $22.50 - $27.50.
Any time we have a faecal accident in a pool, we have to get everybody out and close it for chemical treatment and filtration to ensure that we remove potential spread of germs and infection. Depending on the size of the pool, and the type of incident, this can take between 1.5hrs through to 28hrs!
By not acting quickly with these incidents, we increase the risk of bacteria and infection such as diarrhoea, gastroenteritis and cryptosporidosis. If you or your children have recently been diagnosed with any of these illnesses, or are recently recovering from any of these illnesses, then we suggest that you do not return to the pool until you have fully recovered, and / or received clearance from your GP.
Additionally, if you have recently been to the pool and are diagnosed with gastroenteritis or cryptosporidosis, it's important to call the facility to inform them.
The chemicals that we use to treat the water in our pools is effective, however, during busy periods, the efficacy of these chemicals is diminished, so we need to ensure we continually monitor our water treatment and adjust accordingly. We are always performing regular chemical and pH checks on our pools throughout the day.
We understand that accidents happen, however when a pool needs to close, it is an inconvenience for the other patrons at the facility, and we want to avoid that as much as possible. By taking a preventiative approach, we can all continue to enjoy the facilities together.
